Broadcast Production at Queen’s University Belfast presents:
‘Generation Next: Skilling Up For Multiplatform Delivery’
Broadcast Production is an exciting new subject area at Queen’s University Belfast, both at undergraduate and now master’s level. These highly practical courses work with industry partners to deliver next generation thinking, skills and training for those who want to work in television, radio, creative media, online and immersive formats, such as 360 video. We are therfore delighted to host this panel discussion that will explore the skills gaps in the creative industries here in Northern Ireland and look for answers as to the kind of skills and training companies and the next generation of content makers will need to grow the industry here. Broadcast commissioning now requires multiplatform delivery for success and those tooled up to take advantage of this will be the next generation of programme makers highly sought after in the industry. We need to be open to and ready for emerging trends in this industry, but what are they? This session will be lead by Steve McCormack, CEO of Straywave Media and co-founder of the Mediacon Global Entertainment Summit; Sam Lewens, Trainer, BBC Academy; and Dee Harvey, writer and interactive producer based in Belfast.
